Choosing to try couples therapy is a big move in your relationship. It shows you're committed to dealing with issues and making your connection better.

Couples Therapy in Grapevine Texas

Our way of doing couples therapy is about having open and caring talks. Using safe conversations... we are here to give you hope that your relationship can be different. We acknowledge how past experiences can keep coming up... preventing you from healing and moving forward. That felt sense in the body and emotions can get in the way of moving forward in the relationship in the way you want to. We don't want you to experience any more pain. We'll give you useful communication skills and a secure place to talk about any emotional pain or problems you've had together.

Think of couples counseling as the first step to make your relationship stronger. It's not only about fixing issues; it's about creating a strong base that can handle any problems in the future.

We know it's an investment in making your relationship healthier. Together, we can build a stronger and more peaceful connection.

How we help couples in texas

Gottman Therapy

Created by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy is a structured way to help couples improve communication. It begins with an assessment that provides some fun insights into your relationship. This method starts by teaching new research-based skills. Once communication is secure... It then focuses on deepening intimacy and creating shared meaning in the relationship.

Participating in Gottman Therapy, you will notice reduced verbal conflicts, increased intimacy and respect, and enhanced empathy and understanding between you and your partner.

Emotion Focused Therapy

Developed by Dr. Sue Johnson and Dr. Les Greenberg  in the 1980s based on attachment science

We choose to use Emotion Focused Therapy because it is a powerful attachment-based approach. It gets to the root of the relationship dynamics and helps partners form a secure bond. Emotion Focused Therapy provides real tools to break negative patterns. It increases emotional awareness and sets the stage for lasting, peaceful connections.

EFT for Couples is a structured 8-20 session approach to restructuring interactions by interrupting negative communication. It's a powerful experience for healing and deepening a relationship.

Nervous System Based Couples Therapy

A nervous system-based approach in couples therapy is a valuable tool for improving relationships. Incorporating Polyvagal Theory in understanding the Nervous System, our couples are able to learn how to co-regulate. We teach our couples how to learn how our bodies react to stress. This helps couples communicate better and manage conflicts. This approach gives couples a deeper awareness of their physical responses to stress, which helps them create a safer and more supportive environment. Promoting connection and ability to resolve conflicts.

Moving Forward with Couples Therapy

How to Prepare

When couples find themselves stuck in cycles that just don't serve them anymore, it's vital to understand that both individuals play a part in those patterns. Be ready to recognize not only your own limitations but your partner's too. The journey to healing your relationship will require openness, patience, and vulnerability.

But, fret not, our team of expert therapists is right here, ready to be your compass and your support as you embark on this transformative journey.

What to Expect

Couples sessions are structured based on your needs as a couple and the preference of your therapist.
Couples sessions are typically scheduled at 75 minutes to make sure you both have time to speak. The first initial session will typically be a joint couples session where the therapist can get to know your story as a couple and assess your goals for counseling.

After the initial session, your therapist will likely want to see both partners individually for a one-on-one session.

In the sessions to come, we're rolling up our sleeves for some real teamwork. Your therapist will be your guide in resolving longstanding and new issues, improving communication skills, and getting closer to the dream relationship you both desire. It's all about putting in the work together.

Results

The path to transformation lies in your hands as a couple. When both of you commit wholeheartedly and embrace honesty, progress unfolds with remarkable speed. Remember, nurturing a relationship is an ongoing journey that extends far beyond our counseling sessions. It demands just as much effort, if not more, as it took to reach your current place.

The research underscores that most challenges typically require about the same number of months of consistent counseling as the years those problems have existed. But here's the silver lining – our skilled therapists are true experts in the world of couples counseling. With their guidance and your dedication, we're on a mission to get you where you always envisioned yourself being in your relationshp.
