Marriage and Family Therapist - Associate

Supervised by Cherie Spellman, LMFT-S

Couples, Family, and individual adult and teen therapist

Hi I'm Elizabeth,

I know that life stressors and past experiences can really take a toll on your relationships, family, and connection. Do you feel stuck and repeating patterns in your relationships and don't know how to shift it?  Life transitions can also knock couples into a loop of disconnection. Moves, job changes, giving birth, children leaving the home, changes with in-laws, can all lead to the focus being off of the relationship and you can find yourselves away from the relationship you want.

As a therapist trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I support individuals and couples in making sense of the emotional patterns that shape how we connect—with ourselves and with others. At our core, we all crave connection, safety, and a sense of belonging. When those needs aren’t met—whether because of past trauma, relationship struggles, life changes, children, or ongoing stress—we can feel anxious, stuck, or shut down.

In our work together, you’ll find a calm, supportive space where your story is honored and you are  met with compassion and directness. We’ll  explore what’s beneath the surface, helping you make sense of your emotional responses, build secure bonds, and feel more grounded in yourself and  your relationships.

Whether you’re working through relationship conflict, the impact of trauma, or just trying to find your way forward, I’ll be here with you—present, steady, and attuned. Healing is possible. You don’t have to do it alone.

Marriage Preparation

Preparing for marriage is an exciting and meaningful step—but it can also bring up big questions, hidden insecurities, and old patterns that are easy to overlook in the rush of planning and hope. You might find yourselves bumping into recurring conflicts, communication struggles, or fears about repeating what you’ve seen in other relationships. Maybe you're simply wanting to start your marriage with intention and clarity. In our work together, we’ll slow things down, create space to explore your values, attachment styles, and emotional patterns, and build tools for deeper understanding and connection. Marriage preparation isn’t just about preventing problems—it’s about creating a strong, secure foundation where both of you feel seen, supported, and ready to face life together.

Parenting Skills

Parenting can be one of the most meaningful and most overwhelming roles we take on. Whether you’re navigating tantrums, teen pushback, or just trying to stay connected in the chaos of daily life, it’s easy to feel unsure, exhausted, or triggered in ways you didn’t expect. In parenting work, we’ll focus on understanding what’s really going on beneath the behaviors both in your child and in yourself. Using a trauma-informed, nervous system-aware approach, we’ll build skills to help you parent with more presence, patience, and connection. This isn’t about perfection—it’s about creating a more attuned, grounded relationship with your child and with yourself.

Nervous System Regulation

Our nervous systems can get stuck in flight/flight/freeze/fawn... this can lead to disconnection and a pattern of behaviors that become frustrating and lead to living a life not grounded. I use Safe and Sound Protocol to help families, couples, and children to regulate their nervous systems to engage in life in the way that you feel is connected and intentional.
