Perinatal Mental  Health Counseling

Taking the journey with you from Conception to postpartum

“You don’t have to be positive all the time. It’s perfectly okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed, frustrated, scared and anxious. Having feelings doesn’t make you a negative person. It makes you human.”

— Lori Deschene

What is Perinatal Mental Health?

Perinatal mental health is often referred to as perinatal mental health counseling. It is an essential part of taking care of your emotional and physical well-being while becoming a parent. Perinatal mental health covers all stages of becoming a parent. From trying to conceive to the postpartum period. It honors the feelings and experiences you go through from when you decide to have a baby to after the baby is born. This can include feelings like happiness and excitement, but also worry, sadness, or even trauma. Our Perinatal counselors offer a secure place where you can process these feelings. Our unique somatic therapies will lead you to feel change both emotionally and physically.  We want to honor all your experiences and find ways to have a more grounded, body-attuned, and balanced transition into parenthood.

We understand that the arrival of a new baby can be overwhelming, and it's common to feel a wide range of emotions. Postpartum depression and postpartum PTSD can intensify these feelings. They can lead to you experiencing motherhood in a way you didn't expect. Where your emotions, thoughts, and physical feelings don’t make sense.
